Job Summary
The Custodial Worker is responsible for ensuring that all areas at Canadian Tire Centre (CTC) are properly cleaned and maintained according to standards.
Main Responsibilities
Ongoing
- Responsible for ensuring that the department is properly staffed with the proper number of team members possessing the required skills
- Responsible for cleaning and providing high standards of custodian care for the interior and exterior during events at CTC
- Supervise custodial team members and ensure that they are provided with the proper materials and equipment to successfully complete their tasks
- Responsible for the coordination of the pest control activities for the facilities, ensuring that high standards are maintained throughout
Day to Day Hands on Activities
- Ensure all restrooms are stocked at all time with soap, toilet paper, and other supplies
- Ensure that the proper inventory of supplies is on hand and maintain accurate records
- Reference event riders for specifics instructions
- Responsible for ensuring that conference rooms are properly cleaned
- Perform custodial duties when required, which may include dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and washing fixtures, equipment or CTC furniture
- Operate light cleaning equipment
- Assist event promoters with requests, and provide excellent customer service
- Responsible for ensuring that staff is properly trained in all areas covered by Occupational Health amp; Safety
- Responsible for the supervision of the cleaning and providing high standards of custodian care for the interior and exterior during events at CTC.
- Periodically supervise post event overnight cleaning team members and ensure that they are provided with proper materials and equipment to successfully complete their task.
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager, Operations amp; Projects
Periodic
- Responsible for reviewing the Custodial polices and procedures for Capital Sports amp; Entertainment, Capital Sports Properties Inc., implementing changes when required
Health amp; Safety Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Responsible for ensuring that all areas covered by Occupational Health amp; Safety Act are adhered to, specifically;
- Performing workplace inspections
- Conducting safety information sessions
- Adhered to all OSHA regulations and followed closely to MSDS forms for special instructions for chemical use.
- Assisting with incident investigations
- Ensuring that staff is properly trained and advised of safety hazards
- Observing team members as they perform their duties to ensure safety measures are being followed, and ensuring corrective action is taken if safety measures are not being maintained
- Recognizing team members who follow workplace safety
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ previous experience as a supervisor in an industrial environment
- Knowledge of occupational health and standard safety act, Sanitation Standards, Pest Control and Waste guidelines
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and meet deadlines
- Must be physically able to do heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) and comfortable working at heights
- Must possess effective oral and written communication skills
- Must be available for shift work including evenings, weekends, and holidays
