Intern, ePublishing

Full-Time, Contract (6 months)

Toronto, ON (home-based)

CNIB invites you to build a career as unique as you! We are currently searching for an Intern, ePublishing! Reporting to the Manager, EPUB amp; Braille Publishing, the intern will assist in the creation of accessible audiobooks, EPUB, and braille, and work with the Center for Equitable Library Access (CELA), with publishers, and with organizations across Canada.

Your impact at CNIB
  • Analyze materials arriving in the department and provide Quality Assurance to ensure accessibility standards are met.
  • Validate and proofread the content for markup and structural accuracy according to HTML5 standards.
  • Aid in the production of alternate formats, specifically EPUB and Braille, and in the production of synthetic speech.
  • Additional opportunity to learn how accessibility applies to marketing and communications by working with Beyond Print’s Marketing manager.

Who you are:

This is a unique opportunity for a student or graduate of a digital publishing program to learn about and contribute to accessible format production including EPUB and the creation of synthetic voice for books, as well as assist the department with marketing and research, and learn about best practices for accessible publishing.

  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.
