Part-time, Permanent

CNIB invites you to build a career as unique as you! We are currently searching for a Coach, SmartLife! The successful candidate will play a key role in changing the lives of Canadians who are blind or partially sighted by improving independence at home, work and play through in-person consultations and retail transactions at the CNIB Smartlife Centre. This role will be key in working alongside management and the broader CNIB SmartLife team, to develop solutions and strategies with consumers to promote independence through every aspect of their lives. As a CNIB Coach, SmartLife, you will provide assistance to actively support potential and current clients through drop ins, appointments and organized virtual and in-person workshops held regularly through the CNIB Smartlife Centre to expose them to the possibilities with modern day accessible technologies.

Your impact at CNIB
  • Recruit, engage, and lead an integrated workforce of students, volunteers, etc.
  • Responsible for a critical assessment of the current portfolio of products, technologies, and services offered through the CNIB Client Experience Centre.
  • Assist participants in navigating the SmartLife e-commerce site.
  • Handle of SmartLife Center daily consumer transactions.
  • Through SmartLife Centres, in-person and virtual programming, build and maintain consumer relationships by leveraging the portfolio of CNIB accessibility products, services, and programs.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with consumers, and seek insight into their unique needs, goals and lived experiences to better tailor appropriate solutions.
  • Grow the knowledge base of existing and new consumers through coordination of regularly planned and facilitated learning workshops; virtual and in-person demonstrations of products; 1:1 consultations; participant 1:1 coaching; and new tech deployment training.
  • Develop and integrate creative programmatic strategies to engage SmartLife consumers with existing and new SmartLife accessible technologies.
  • Collaborate with the National Smartlife team to develop and execute marketing strategies that engage and inform consumers and promote new and emerging technology solutions, technology programs and technology initiatives through CNIB Smartlife Centres.
  • Educate participants of the current accessible high-tech solutions that are the future and the present through hands-on and virtual demonstrations and product testing groups.
  • Provide administrative support by connecting with participants in the Phone it Forward, Tech Mate, AT Waitlist, and Connecting with Technology programs
  • Assist participants with basic troubleshooting of their iOS devices.
  • Facilitate virtual and in-person, interactive workshops and one on one sessions to instruct low vision/blind participants in the use of their iOS and Windows devices - including both built-in, and add-on, accessibility features.
  • Represent CNIB Smartlife at regional accessible technology tradeshows virtually or in-person.
  • Process orders and collect payments for client’s accessing funds through the Assistive Device Program (ADP)

Requirements

  • Good relationship/team builder and networking skills with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills to work to concurrent and/or conflicting deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical, problem definition and problem-solving skill.
  • Proven time management, planning, coordinating and organization skills; proactive in initiating multiple projects on an ongoing basis.
  • Professional attitude, results oriented, strategic and flexible.
  • Demonstrates mature and sensitive nature when dealing with the needs of persons living with vision loss.
  • Proactive desire to connect and foster relationships within the community through organizing learning workshops.
  • Adept at thinking strategically to aid in realizing solutions for challenges specific to each individual consumer.
We want to hear from you if you have:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field and relevant experience.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience with accessible and assistive technologies, program development and implementation, retail sales, and excellent customer service provision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and superior interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of and demonstrated track record of product sales and exceptional customer service provision.
  • Extensive knowledge in accessibility and adapt
