Job Description

Role: Chief of Staff

Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer/Founder

We are looking for a Chief of Staff to provide high-level support and serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the CEO. The Chief of Staff will be involved in a broad range of critical activities including highly-strategic projects and tactical executional duties, and will play a key role in helping the company focus on and achieve its goals. This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic and results-oriented individual to work closely with the CEO, contribute to the company's growth and make a significant impact in the fast-paced world of technology.

Method creates web applications for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). Our flagship product is Method:CRM, a web application made specifically for small businesses using QuickBooks accounting software. What sets Method apart is our ability to create customized solutions for individual SMBs. This is all facilitated by our patented accounting synchronization engine. We are a successful SaaS platform company, with a substantial base of paying customers, employing a team of 100 passionate Methoders. We are looking for the right individual to report directly to the CEO to help further accelerate our growth.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning and Execution - collaborate with the CEO and support the leadership team to refine and execute the strategic direction. Help translate our vision into actionable plans and initiatives by overseeing the quarterly planning process throughout the organization, including setting, tracking, and reporting on progress towards OKRs and/or EOS Rocks. Drive critical projects, track progress, and ensure that we achieve our strategic objectives. This will include scheduling and facilitating quarterly planning, following up with leaders on their progress, driving reporting, and following up with leaders on their action items.
  • Communication and Coordination - facilitate effective communication across the organization, ensuring that information flows effectively between teams and stakeholders. Serve as a central point of contact for internal and external inquiries. Prepare and deliver high-impact presentations, reports, and updates to ensure clarity and alignment. Examples include preparing board and investor communications, preparing presentations, reports, and business updates that effectively convey complex information in a clear and captivating manner.
  • Data Analysis and Financial Modelling - conduct in-depth research, gather data, perform analysis and create financial models to support strategic decision-making. Provide insights and recommendations on complex business issues, market trends, and competitive landscapes. Help the CEO to evaluate risks, assess trade-offs, and seize growth opportunities.
  • Relationship Management - cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including executives, partners, customers, investors, and industry influencers.
  • Operational Review and Oversight - act as the front-line to the CEO in reviewing progress against strategic objectives, execution milestones and ensuring alignment across all functions. Provide guidance to the CEO on prioritising focus areas.
  • Multiplier - accompany CEO to critical meetings and/or serve as representative at meetings and functions when the CEO is unable to attend.

Requirements

  • Education: university undergraduate degree is required, preferably in Commerce, Business, Finance or Engineering. An MBA is a plus.
  • Relevant work experience (3 different professional backgrounds will be considered):
    • 1 to 3 years of experience working in a Chief of Staff position OR
    • 3 to 5 years of work experience in investment banking, management consulting, or venture capital OR
    • 4 to 6+ years of work experience at a technology/software company in a Strategy, Operations, BizOps or Special Projects role
  • Experience working at a B2B Software/SaaS Company is a plus.
  • Knowledge of, and experience working in the SMB market is a plus.
  • Data-driven amp; highly analytical - strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and a demonstrated track record of leveraging data to drive business impact. A
