We are a boutique Employment Law firm providing expert legal advice on all workplace matters and a professional HR Consulting firm offering clients customized approaches to managing their business issues. We are looking for a Legal Intern to support our Firm’s lawyers and HR Consultants.

The Legal Intern will be a self-starter, possess a strong client focused approach, be highly organized and someone who can roll up their sleeves to ensure the work gets done. The ideal candidate will have a passion for all things legal, have a strong work ethic, and ability to balance multiple priorities with genuine desire to learn and grow.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Client Services

  • Assist with intake of potential clients (assessments) and oversee ongoing client satisfaction processes.
  • Maintain efficient file and document management systems for managing client communications and record-keeping (includes both physical and digital files).
  • Contribute to business development and client satisfaction through surveys, testimonials, and reviews.

Operational Efficiency

  • Organize files, understand priorities, and plan recurring tasks effectively for lawyers.
  • Coordinate calendars, gather meeting information, and schedule appointments based on lawyers’ schedules.
  • Manage business emails using Microsoft Outlook tools and maintain an organized electronic folder structure.
  • Execute projects within budget, scope, and timelines, with contingency planning.
  • Support business development using Customer Relationship Management Software.
  • Coordinate new file intake and file closing procedures.

Accounting amp; Financial Oversight

  • Handle semi-monthly billing cycle for clients using the Firm’s accounting software, Clio.
  • Keep Accounts Receivable status updated and conduct regular collections in Clio.
  • Liaise with external Accountant for billing matters and maintain compliance with LSO guidelines.


Requirements

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Must be in the process of completing a post-secondary diploma / degree in Law Clerk/Paralegal or related field and actively enrolled in a co-op / Internship program.
  • Basic understanding of employment law fundamentals as they pertain to governing legislative bodies (e.g., Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Occupational Health amp; Safety Act, etc.) would be a definite asset, as would past experience in an Employment Law firm.
  • A values-based individual who demonstrates Respect, Initiative, Passion, Excellence and Teamwork is required.
  • Superb client service approach.
  • Proven calendar management experience
  • Proficiency of Legal Software (Clio) Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Strong organization and time management skills, able to organize work, multi-task, create detailed plans, monitor progress, follow-up and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and independent work capabilities.
  • Proactive judgment in identifying opportunities and challenges.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Professional, responsive, and able to build productive relationships within the Firm.
