Job Description

Role: Senior Accountant (Family Office)

Location: TORONTO, ON

Type: FULL TIME / PERMANENT

Compensation: Competitive compensation package (including paid vacation and benefits)

The CEO is looking for an Accountant to work directly with him on general Family Office business including document management, personal expense allocations, bill payments, cash-flow forecasts, and personal property administration and accounting. You will oversee all aspects of the CEO’s personal financial management and family office expenses and administration. You are organized, detail oriented and have experience with Excel spreadsheets. You are comfortable working with numbers, managing and organizing document workflow, allocating expenses and building excel spreadsheets. You thrive in a fast-paced environment. You enjoy working independently, but can also collaborate with a team of internal and external stakeholders. You have strong communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. We are searching for somebody who is professional, polished, trustworthy, and understands that confidentiality and discretion are essential in this role. This is a hybrid role (with flexibility) which will include approximately 1-2 days per week in an office.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and organize all Family Office and personal documentation
  • Manage, track and reconcile personal/business expenses related to the Family Office/Personal
  • Pay bills and allocate invoices/expenses to numerous companies (Family Office and Personal)
  • Work with external accountants on allocations of cash inflows and outflows for numerous bank accounts and companies
  • Create, maintain and manage excel spreadsheets including the administration of personal property capital allocations, and personal expense budgets
  • Liaise with external accountants and lawyers to assist with tax season and tax returns (personal and corporate), and to finalize accounts and provide necessary details and supporting documentation
  • Manage all charitable commitments and track all transactions of the CEO's Charitable Foundation
  • Maintain various databases for the office of the CEO tracking personal inventory, assets and maintenance checklists (coordinate with various maintenance professionals including procurement)
  • Assist the CEO with special projects (personal and business admin projects)
  • Communicate with key stakeholders on behalf of the CEO including external accountants, lawyers, property staff, clients, partners, charitable organizations, Bankers, etc.
  • Have a positive attitude and natural tendency to help others

Requirements

  • Must have a University Bachelor's Degree - Business/Accounting/Finance/Commerce
  • A Professional Accounting Designation is an asset, but not required (ie. CPA, CA, CMA, CGA, etc.)
  • Approx. 2 to 4 years of prior work experience in a similar role (ie. Accounting Administrator, Financial Administrator, Junior Accountant, Senior Accountant, Financial Analyst, FPamp;A, etc.)
  • Excel spreadsheet skills
  • Prior experience working in an accounting related role or financial administrator position
  • Prior experience working on budgets/forecasts is an asset
  • A/P experience is an asset
  • Strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting and analytics
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Curious and a quick learner
  • Highly organized: able to create systems for organization and ensure tasks are done on time
  • Detail oriented: ability to complete tasks to specifications and with attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal): engage effectively with many stakeholders via email, text, phone, and in-person, highly professional communicator with experience and comfort liaising with executive-level contacts
  • Strong problem-solving skills: tackle any task assigned independently, and proactively tackle issues that arise
