Job Description

Norwood Sawmills, a global leader in mobile sawmill technology, is seeking a Mailroom Associate to join their team. The Mailroom Associate will have a variety of hands of tasks, that include the daily processing of all courier shipments as well as processing stock transfers between Norwood sites. This role will also act as a back-up for the Senior Mailroom Associates, in maintaining order inquiries from our Sales Team and External Customers.

Responsibilities
  • Always work in a safe manner and consistently be mindful of safety owed to yourself, fellow team-members and to visitors.
  • Efficiently and accurately place parts in bags and/or boxes, bags into bins, and boxes onto pallets.
  • Keep warehouse organized and consolidate parts to ensure optimum use of bins and racking.
  • Pick parts for the production lines in an orderly and timely fashion to keep the lines fed. Put parts away in correct location when production runs are complete.
  • Ensure all bins and skids are labelled correctly.
  • Ensure all skids are wrapped and secure prior to putting away up in the racking.
  • Pay attention to detail to consistently ensure the correct parts, and quantity of parts, are packaged.
  • Always handle parts and finished goods carefully to ensure they suffer no damage.
  • Look for new ways to improve efficiency, packaging quality, inspections/quality-control, preservation of part quality and improve safety, and to communicate to superiors your suggestions.
  • Keep clean and tidy your workspace, and contribute to keeping clean all common areas including production, storage and corridor/movement areas, shipping office.
  • Learn, respect and follow instructions, procedures and guidelines.
  • Interact with fellow Norwood team members, customers and supplies in a positive, constructive, courteous, timely and professional manner.
  • Perform such other duties that may be assigned as required.

Requirements

  • Experience working in packaging and distribution environments.
  • Grade 12 high school diploma, or equivalent
  • Microsoft office proficient (Excel, Outlook specifically)
  • Able to work under time constraints in order to meet daily courier pick up times.
  • Experience working in environments that actively practice LEAN manufacturing, an asset.
  • Organization and attention to detail when performing repetitive tasks.
  • Able to manage multiple deadlines and multitask in a busy environment.
  • Able to handle heavy and awkward items.
  • Previous use of ERP and courier pickup software
  • Knowledge of Norwood products and parts, an asset
  • Committed to working in a safe manner
