Job Description

Program Lead, Children amp; Youth

Full Time, Permanent

New Westminster, BC

CNIB invites you to build a career as unique as you! We are currently searching for a Program Lead, Children amp; Youth! Reporting to the Manager, Programs amp; Operations, the Program Lead, Children amp; Youth will lead and empower integrated teams of staff and volunteers. They will collaborate with their counter parts across Canada to develop and deliver programs that change the lives of children and youth who are partially sighted or blind in British Columbia and Yukon.

Your impact at CNIB
  • Providing ongoing support to our parents and primary care givers in their role as advocates for their children, both within the vision loss community and with other community partners and agencies.
  • Collaborating with Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada British Columbia's Early Interventions team to support our children as they transition into the formal education system.
  • Working in partnership with Vision Teachers, blindness organizations and institutions, provide support to children and youths who are partially sighted or blind in British Columbia and Yukon.

Requirements

Who you are:
  • Knowledge of childhood growth and development and awareness of specific issues regarding vision loss.
  • Connections to youth-based community organizations.
  • Working knowledge of national volunteer organizations with a branch and regional structure.
  • Effectively demonstrates understanding and championing of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility issues.
  • Good relationship/team builder and networking skills with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, problem definition and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven time management, planning, coordinating and organization skills; proactive in initiating multiple projects on an ongoing basis.
  • Professional attitude, results oriented, strategic, and flexible.
We want to hear from you if you have:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in program development and delivery.
  • Experience working with K-12 and post-secondary children, youths, and young adults, as well as their guardians and families.
  • A track record of successful people management encompassing leading, managing, and motivating teams of staff and volunteers as well as partner stewardship and collaborative efforts in the community.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities, those from the vulnerable sector.
  • Experience in developing service delivery models.
  • Experience in delivering training workshops and devising and delivering presentations.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Salesforce an asset.
  • Knowledge of adaptive technology an asset.
  • Knowledge or experience working in a not-for-profit or charity is an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and vision loss is an asset.
Work Environment
  • Willingness to work from different locations.
  • Travel will be required within the province, territory and nationally.
  • Required to work flexible hours (Weekends, Evenings)
  • Home visits to families
