Job Description

Norwood Sawmills, a global leader in mobile sawmill technology, is seeking a Production Team Leader to join their team. The role of the Production Team Leader is responsible for leading a team of production workers in their day-to-day responsibilities to ensure the efficient and smooth operation of the production process. They are responsible for achieving production targets, maintaining product quality, promoting safety practices, and fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

Production Operations

  • Oversee and guide Production Team in production process, ensuring it runs smoothly and effectively.
  • Monitor production schedules and adjust workflows as needed to meet production goals.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of products to prevent damage with Material Handlers.
  • Communicate with the Material Handlers to ensure product is picked and placed on the line ahead of when needed. Ensure consistent flow in and out of production lines with minimal downtime.
  • Provide clear, precise, and timely direction on;
    • Assembly building
    • Executing final stage of assembly process
    • Packaging of sawmill parts
  • Review and assist with First Off Verification of packaging products, verifying correct weight measurements.


Inventory

  • Build and execute production plans with Production Manager to maximize efficiency on the line.
  • Maintain and provide updates to Production Manager on stock levels of inventory.
  • Ensure team members restock product properly, on the line and within the racks.


Leadership

  • Provide guidance and instruction to the team in a constructive and positive manner.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members and monitor their performance.
  • Provide coaching and support to address performance issues and improve skills.
  • Conduct morning meetings to keep team members informed with safety talks, daily department goals, Health amp; Safety, and Company updates.
  • Identify training opportunities within the department for the Production Associates
  • Provide support and collaboration, when required, to the Warehouse team, and act as the back-up for the Production Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of related experience
  • Leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of production processes and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using production-related software and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and a commitment to a safe working environment.
