We are currently building a Demonstration Plant in Burnaby and are looking for skilled tradesperson/millwright to support comprehensive industrial and mechanical projects. This role is perfect for someone who loves to work on machines and wants to make a positive impact in the world. All tools, PPE (excluding steel toed boots) and specialised equipment training will be provided on the job. Some travel between our Burnaby and New Westminster plant will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of manual tasks, including but not limited to,
    • Lifting
    • Carrying
    • Digging
    • Cleaning
  • Assist in the setup and dismantling of equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Operate plant equipment including but not limited to,
    • Grinding Mills
    • Filter Press
    • Material Handling Equipment for Hazardous Chemicals
    • Pumps and Valves
  • Load and unload materials, products, and supplies from trucks or other transportation vehicles.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment by sweeping, mopping, and disposing of waste.
  • Assist skilled tradespeople as needed, including carpenters, electricians, engineers, and plumbers.
  • Follow safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Experience as a millwright, electrician, plumber, mechanic or other relevant skilled trade.
  • Physical strength and stamina to perform manual labour and lift heavy objects up to 50lbs.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with alignment, rigging, layout, and a variety of hand tooling.
  • Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn new tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal in the English language.
  • The ability to follow written and spoken instructions.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.
  • Flexibility to work in various weather conditions and environments.
  • Forklift experience (Forklift ticket an asset but not required).
  • Qualified to wear a respirator.
