Duties and Responsibilities
Major Gifts
- Foster relationships with a portfolio of approximately 75 mid-level and major donors (Seva Canada defines major donors as giving $5000-100,000+ annually), mapping individualized donor journeys through moves management, and ensuring regular, high-impact interactions, engagement, reporting and recognition.
- Collaborate with Board Members and volunteers on major donor cultivation.
- Be the first point of contact for new donors giving at the major gift level.
- Presentations and speaking engagements.
Donor Stewardship
- Define and oversee a broad stewardship program for major and mid-level donors across the organization, including acknowledgements, mailings, events and other regular touchpoints.
Legacy
- Work with the team to oversee legacy mailings and be the follow-up lead for legacy prospects.
- Take a blended gifts approach with major donors.
- Work with the Marketing and Communications Director on legacy collateral, videos and campaigns.
Team Collaboration
- Attend biweekly team meetings.
- Work with Donor Relations amp; Operations Manager to reconcile and designate major gifts.
- Present and deliver proposals and impact reports to donors created in collaboration with the Donor Relations amp; Operations Manager and Program Director.
- Work with the Donor Relations amp; Operations Manager to select new database amp; ensure it can meet the needs of a major gifts program.
- Provide feedback and input on mail and email campaigns, which are led by the Marketing and Communications Director and reinforce campaigns in interactions with donors.
- Manage and track annual donor cultivation budget and expenses.
- Collaborate with team on events, ensuring excellent experiences for Seva donors.
- Monthly check in with Executive Director to review moves from the past month and plan for month ahead.
- Present on major gifts program at Board meetings.
Requirements
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a donor-facing major gifts role.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong relationship-building and presentation skills.
- Proven track record of successfully soliciting and closing major gifts.
- Experience or willingness to learn about blended giving approaches, including bequests, and annuities.
- Thoughtfulness, excellent judgement, and discretion in communicating with donors and colleagues at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of fundraising best practices, ethics, and industry trends.
- Familiarity with donor databases / CRM systems, specifically supporting major gifts.
- High level of professionalism amp; integrity.
- Ability to travel within Canada on donor cultivation trips, and lead donor trips to the places where Seva Canada works internationally.
