Position Summary:

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of our organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting and operations. Your expertise will play a critical role in guiding strategic financial decisions, maintaining financial integrity, and providing leadership to the finance team.

Specific Duties:

Team Management and Process Optimization:

  • Lead, coach and mentor the accounting team, advancing a culture of high-performance and professional growth.
  • Direct a comprehensive suite of daily financial tasks, including but not limited to accounts payable/receivable, treasury, payroll, tax, and general ledger operations.
  • Champion process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality and timely results
  • Continuously review and enhance financial systems, tools, and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and meet reporting requirements.
  • Analyze financial data, trends, and performance indicators and provide meaningful insights to senior management.
  • Assist with annual budget compilation and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, relevant regulations, and reporting standards under ASPE (IFRS is an asset).

Financial Controls and Compliance:

  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures, as well as relevant legal and tax requirements.
  • Administer appropriate ERP user access based on responsibility.
  • Lead the annual external audit, address audit findings, and implement corrective actions.

Cash Management:

  • Oversee the preparation of cash flow, executing on forecasting needs and optimizing working capital.
  • Manage banking activities and maintain relationships with financial institutions.
  • Manage the online banking user access and set up of new accounts.

Taxation:

  • Manage tax-related duties, from preparation to submission of required filings.
  • Represent the company during tax audits and inquiries.
  • Handle tax provision calculations according to accounting practices.
  • Work with external tax advisors and internal personnel on state and local tax requirements.
  • Assist in establishing and documenting transfer pricing policies in compliance with international tax regulations.

Requirements

  • A designated CPA or equivalent professional certification.
  • Previous proven experience as a Financial Controller or a relevant senior financial management role.
  • Understand financial principles, regulations
