Job Description

Pagemasters North America (PMNA) is seeking a part-time agate editor who can work in a fast-paced news environment. This position currently has the flexibility to work from home, providing operational requirements are achieved, and subject to change is expected to work four days per week, seven hours per day. As the successful candidate:

You have:

  • 3+ years’ experience editing, laying out/designing and proofing newspaper pages for a business and sports sections
  • Solid copy editing, page design and headline-writing skills
  • Experience using Adobe Illustrator to produce quality graphics
  • The ability to get the details right while meeting deadlines
  • Experience using Adobe Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) an asset
  • Superior customer service orientation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of CP Style an asset
  • Successful candidate must live in Canada and be able to get to a CP bureau, if required.

You are able to:

  • Adapt quickly and calmly to sudden revisions
  • Work well independently and also as part of a team
  • Craft strong and accurate headlines
  • Have a solid understanding of Canadian and U.S. stock markets and a well-rounded knowledge of sports
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately
  • Be flexible and adapt to changing client standards/needs
  • Work flexible hours, including weekend and night shifts
