The VP of Chemistry at Greentank is a critical leadership position within our innovative and rapidly growing organization. We are seeking an experienced and visionary chemist to lead our Chemistry department, drive innovation, and ensure the highest standards of quality and safety in our products. The VP of Chemistry will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our company, fostering a culture of excellence, and contributing to our mission of revolutionizing the cannabis experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that all products meet or exceed quality and safety standards, including compliance with regulatory requirements in the cannabis industry.
- Implement and maintain robust quality control processes and procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality and consistency throughout the production lifecycle.
Research and Development:
- Lead research initiatives to advance the science and technology of cannabis vaporization.
- Identify and evaluate emerging trends and technologies in the field of chemistry and vaping.
- Oversee the development and testing of new materials and formulations.
Product Innovation:
- Work closely with product development teams to design and create innovative vaping hardware and technology.
- Collaborate with the product team on the development of sustainable product solutions.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to bring new products to market successfully.
Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the chemistry department budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Monitor and control costs to maximize profitability while maintaining high product quality.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs, to achieve common goals.
- Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
- Represent the company in industry events, conferences, and regulatory discussions.
Leadership:
- Provide constructive support, advice and project rollout updates during leadership meetings
- Create a positive atmosphere by demonstrating a growth mindset and set an example to embody the company's values
- Identify and address challenges and obstacles that may impede the company's progress. Leaders should be skilled at finding creative solutions to complex problems
- Assess and manage risks that could impact the company's success. This includes identifying potential threats and developing contingency plans
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, such as investors, customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies
- Stay current with industry best practices and leadership trends, and continue to develop your own leadership skills
Manager responsibilities:
- Day to day employee Management managing team’s time, queries, administrative etc.
- Identification and promotion of high potentials and talent
- Regular management of direct reports - 1:1s, appraisals, learning/coaching plans defined
- Leadership to the team
Requirements
Educational Background:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- A Master's degree with significant industry experience may be considered.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in a chemistry-related role, with at least 5 years in a senior management or executive position.
- Proven track record of leading research and development initiatives, ideally in the vaping, pharmaceutical or cannabis industry.
Regulatory Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance in the cannabis industry, including knowledge of FDA and other relevant regulations.
Technical Expertise:
- Deep knowledge of chemistry, material science, and analytical techniques related to vaping technology and product development.
