Project Manager, Know Your Rights

Part Time, Contract (18 months, hours vary from 15-35 hours per week depending on operational needs)

Toronto, ON (Home Based)

We're looking for a mission-driven Project Manager, Know Your Rights who is passionate about creating more accessible, inclusive, and equitable communities across Canada where people with low vision have unlimited opportunities and can experience life free from barriers and discrimination.

Your Impact at CNIB
  • Lead the planning and execution of CNIB Know Your Rights projects and other related legal education projects, ensuring compliance with all timelines set out in funding agreements and project workplans, including reporting requirements.
  • Supervise and support local CNIB staff and volunteers involved in the implementation and delivery of CNIB Know Your Rights projects and other related legal education projects.
  • Work with CNIB staff and CNIB's national philanthropy team to secure additional funding for Know Your Rights projects and other related legal education projects. Such work may include corresponding with prospective funders, assisting philanthropy staff with drafting grant applications, and developing budgets for proposed projects.
  • Work with local CNIB staff to develop a pool of local individuals and institutional collaborators (e.g. Pro Bono Students Canada, etc.), who are willing to volunteer their time to support the development and execution of Know Your Rights projects and other related legal education projects.
  • Manage and deliver additional projects and activities, as required (e.g. Youth Equality through Legal Learning Program, presentations at conferences/events, etc.).
  • Support CNIB staff with advocacy-related issues and with the development of the Legal Support Program, as required.

Requirements

Who you are:

Education and Certifications

  • LLB or JD
  • Admission to the Bar in a Canadian province/territory and experience working as a practicing lawyer, an asset.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience developing and delivering legal education projects.
  • Experience in program development and delivery within a charity/not-for-profit organization.
  • Experience managing and coordinating volunteers.
  • Proven time management and organization skills
  • Amenable to changing priorities, deadlines, and procedures.
  • Computer skills, with proficiency in MS Office software including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Proficiency in Canlii and other legal research software.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Customer service oriented with well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Professional attitude, results oriented, self-directed, and flexible.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • English fluency, written and oral.
  • Knowledge of Canadian human rights and accessibility laws
  • Fluency, written and oral, in French, an asset.
  • Proficiency/working knowledge of Sales Force, an asset.
  • Experience in reporting on funded projects, an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.
