ABOUT THE ROLE

The Director of Operations is a senior position responsible for overseeing the operational functions of our non-profit. You will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of our services and administration, while supporting our long-term strategic initiatives. You will also oversee the fractional management of external service providers in areas such as legal, financial services, HR, IT, board services, and travel amp; events. You will be responsible for building internal capacity for these functions with the goal of transitioning to a fully-internal delivery of administrative and financial services within two to three years.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operational Oversight: Manage and optimize diversified organizational functions including HR, Finance, Events, IT, Legal, and Board Administration.
  • Stakeholder and Partners Management: Build and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and partners, including government bodies, community groups, and funders.
  • Resource Allocation and Budget Control: Oversee budgeting and the allocation of resources, focusing especially on financial management and oversight.
  • Risk Management: Implement and maintain adequate policies and procedures to protect the organization from legal and operational risks.
  • Service Provider Management: Administer and oversee fractional managed service providers to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and quality service delivery.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years in senior management roles with similar organizations, demonstrating deep experience in administering HR, Finance, Events, IT, Legal, and Board Administration teams.
  • At least 10 years of relevant career experience in an operations capacity, with a strong focus on financial management.
  • High degree of technological proficiency is essential, given the fully digital nature of our operational processes.
