Job Description
Do you love newspapers? Are you passionate about print? Pagemasters North America (PMNA) is seeking a part-time layout/copy editor who can work in a fast-paced news environment. We want sharp copy editors with a knack for headline-writing and page design. These positions can be remote anywhere within Canada, and remote or hybrid from Toronto or Calgary.
Whether you’re a recent grad who just loved your time on the student newspaper or a seasoned vet looking for something new, we want to talk to you.
As the successful candidate you have:
- Experience editing, laying out/designing and proofing newspaper pages for a variety of sections, from business to general news and entertainment
- Solid copy editing, page design and headline-writing skills
- Strong news judgment
- The ability to get the details right while meeting deadlines
- Superior customer service orientation
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- A background in journalism
Requirements
You are able to:
- Respond quickly to breaking news and multi-task under tight deadline pressure with speed, accuracy and clarity
- Learn quickly and apply client's style rules and preferences
- Be flexible and adapt to changing client standards/needs
- Work evenings and weekends (Fridays and Sundays are key production days)
