Job Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an entry level Line Operator! This role will be based out of our Extrusion plant facility located in Langley, BC and reports to the Production Manager.

Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic individual with a keen eye to detail and a positive demeanor for this entry level role. The successful candidate will focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement.

This is a full-time position, with 12hr shifts (7am-7pm), working 4 days on and 4 days off. Proposed hourly pay range starting at $26.87

Principal Responsibilities

  • With training, assist in the line operation of extruders and associated equipment
  • Perform quality checks using micrometers, calibers, and tape measures.
  • Package pipe in accurate pallet sizes and quantities and document production
  • Use basic hand tools and operate of forklift
  • Identify, transfer, and load material for production
  • Inspect and report potential unsafe or hazardous conditions
  • Identify, remove and report scrap in compliance with work instructions
  • Troubleshoot problems that involve multiple-choice options and determine the most appropriate course of action
  • Support and stay in sync with the efforts of the Joint, Health amp; Safety Committee (JHSC)
  • Maintain acceptable housekeeping, environmental and safe working conditions
  • Perform a variety of other tasks as required

Requirements

Knowledge and Experience

  • High School diploma or certificate of completion is required
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred; plastics experience is an asset
  • Must be knowledgeable in imperial and metric measurement systems and basic math
  • Experience operating a forklift is considered an asset
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must be a self-starter with good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills coupled with an eagerness to learn
  • Good team player including with a demonstrated ability to contribute to and foster a positive team environment

Working Conditions

  • Requires good mobility and involves considerable routine walking, standing for long periods, bending, and lifting up to a maximum of 50 lbs.
  • Fast-paced environment where a considerable amount of sensory attention is required
