Job Description:

Cheme PLC Engineers use their technical expertise and project management skills to solve complex automation problems, optimize industrial automation systems, and deliver projects on time and on budget for our clients. The successful candidate understands the unique challenges of both process and automation design and the importance of the interface between the two disciplines and has experience navigating a GMP regulated environment.

Cheme PLC Engineers are leaders who will lead a multi-disciplinary team on a variety of projects and provide coaching, and mentorship to younger staff.

Requirements

  • Traveling to clients' locations.
  • Meeting with clients to discuss their mechanical or electrical automation needs.
  • Drawing electrical or mechanical schematics to demonstrate how processes will work.
  • Developing and installing machine programs using automation software and custom coding languages.
  • Determining machine automation test criteria before the final installation
  • Testing automated systems for efficiency, safety, and reliability.
  • Troubleshooting system errors.
  • Overseeing the successful installation of PLC programs
  • Documenting development processes.
  • Providing clients with technical support.
  • Coordination of contractors, fabricators, vendors, and progress reporting to the client
  • Commissioning and validation protocol preparation and review
  • Attendance of factory acceptance testing and on-site coordination and execution of commissioning and validation activities
  • Preparation and review of standard operating procedures
  • Travel to client sites for site review and troubleshooting

Minimum Required Education:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science degree in engineering from a recognized university

OR

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a physical science from a recognized university

Professional Requirements:

  • PLC technical certification.

Core Competencies:

  • At least 4-7 year's experience as a PLC system Engineer (both hardware amp; software)
  • Experience in Pharmaceutical industry is required
  • Electrical and mechanical engineering experience preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing and mechanical processes.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel when required
  • At least 1 year of experience in construction/installation, equipment start-up, qualification and/or validation is mandatory
  • Experience with computer system validation practices and GAMP
  • Experience authoring and reviewing standard operating procedures, on-the-job trainings, and other controlled documents
  • Strong analytical skills and engineering analysis
  • Supervision of team members
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English with the ability to communicate clearly with clients.
  • Valid driver’s license, and owner of a car.

Technical Experience:

  • Working knowledge of at least one of the following platforms:
  1. Allen Bradley PLC
  2. DCS
  3. SCADA
  4. BMS Systems
  5. OSISoft PI Historian
  • Working knowledge of PLC’s and automation in DCS platform
  • Working knowledge of instrumentation and control panel hardware
  • Working knowledge of unit operations typically used in biotech and vaccine manufacturing such as bulk manufacturing, downstream operations, formulation, sterilization (SIP), and cleaning (CIP) is not mandatory but considered a strong asset.
