The Position
We are seeking an experienced Digital Content Developer (‘DCD’) to join our team. The ideal candidate should have prior experience in HTML and a good understanding of JavaScript, along with proficiency is Adobe Illustrator, Premiere and Photoshop. The primary responsibility of this role is to develop HTML web content and multimedia, utilizing tools such as HTML editors, Adobe Creative Suite, Active Presenter, Audacity, and Smartsheet. The Digital Content Developer will also need to understand accessibility principles and effectively communicate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and project managers.
As a member of the content development and production team, you will help drive the planning, creation, and production of content for Nelson’s digital education platform. As we continue to move beyond books, you will use your technical skills and design knowledge to create attractive and engaging content.
This close-knit group works collaboratively in a fast-paced environment where priorities and projects need to be juggled, assessed, and reviewed to achieve maximum efficiency. Working with the publishers, editors, interactive team, and project managers, you will ensure that the digital and interactive products meet the company’s quality standards. The position requires knowledge of HTML and web design, the ability to create simple line art, videos, and interactive content, high attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work with technical and non-technical staff. Experience creating videos and interactive content is an asset. Key to success in this position is the ability to work well under pressure, manage competing priorities, and thrive in a technical and quick-changing environment.
