What you’ll be doing:
This position provides leadership and direction to MML Sales amp; Engineering functions.
- In conjunction with Chief Estimator, reviews Requests For Quotations from a variety of sources and helps prioritize estimating workload.
- Arranges for delivery of drawings and specifications in manual or electronic fashion and sets up manual and/or electronic folders and files.
- As required, ensures that information developed for quotation submissions is consistent with the latest generation of accurate drawings and project specifications.
- Carefully reviews and analyzes customer specifications and drawings and maintains detailed notes (written amp;/or electronic) of all related estimating assumptions.
- Prepares request for tenders from a variety of sub-contractors and suppliers to obtain quotations for related and needed services and equipment.
- Using specialized software enters all related labor and equipment estimates.
- In conjunction with Chief Estimator, consults with customers regarding the defined scope of work and any possible exclusion
- Prepares and forwards a bid package to the customer Including any breakdowns
- As directed, contacts customers regarding the status of outstanding quotations.
- Upon customer approval, meets with the Project Coordinator to reviews project specifications, drawings and review/explain all estimating assumptions.
- During projects, occasionally assists Project Coordinators with the costing of extras and/or change orders.
- Reviews completed projects and compares actual performance with quoted amounts.
- Based upon actual costs, adjusts databases to reflect changes and experience.
- Participates within the End of Project Review process.
Requirements
- University Degree or Diploma in Construction Estimating, Engineering or related program preferred
- Minimum of 5-8 years of estimating experience for mechanical projects (HVAC, piping systems, plumbing etc) in the ICI construction industry. Mid-Hi Rise experience also considered.
- Experience with mechanical design is a plus
- Working knowledge with Microsoft Word /Excel
- Experience working with estimating software including, Accubid Enterprise/Livecount / electronic take-off software
