About the role

Reporting to the Executive Director of People amp; Engagement, the HR Operations Manager (1 year-contract) serves as the main point of contact for the people amp; engagement team, providing expert guidance and support to employees on HR-related matters. This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring a seamless and positive employee experience across all stages of the employee life cycle. The ideal candidate will act as a primary partner and advisor to the business, collaborating with stakeholders to drive operational excellence and facilitate a consistent employee experience within Nelson.

The successful incumbent will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the People and Engagement departments operations within our organization. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of Pamp;E processes and procedures, as well as implementing best practices to support our employees and the company's objectives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the recruitment and onboarding process, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and offer letters.
  • Manage employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans.
  • Coordinate and conduct employee training and development programs to enhance skills and productivity.
  • Implement and optimize HRIS (Human Resources Information System) software to streamline HR processes and improve data management.
  • Collaborate with IT and HR teams to troubleshoot HRIS issues and implement system upgrades.
  • Lead special HR projects, such as process improvements, system implementations, and organizational change initiatives.
  • Utilize data analytics tools and techniques to gather, analyze, and interpret HR data.
  • Generate regular reports and dashboards on key HR metrics, trends, and insights.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with department managers to address staffing needs and workforce planning.
  • Stay informed about changes in employment laws and regulations and ensure compliance.
  • Provide guidance and support to HR team members, fostering a culture of learning and development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as an HR manager or similar role, with at least 3 years of experience in HR operations.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Solid organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in HRIS software and other HR-related systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and team management skills.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • HR certification (e.g., HRPA) is a plus.
