Job Description

Internship Summary

The Summer Intern at the Senators Community Foundation will play a supporting role in assisting with both administrative duties and event logistics. This position is ideal for a candidate who is proactive, has a high attention to detail and is passionate about making a difference in the community. The candidate for this position would have the opportunity to develop insight and additional skillsets related to, but not limited to, business administration, fundamentals in philanthropy, project management, event planning and stewardship.

Duration

Full-time internship from May to August 2024.


Main Responsibilities

Event Support:

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing various events, including signature events, charity partner functions, and third-party gatherings.
  • Act as the first point of contact for vendors, sponsors, and participants, ensuring a seamless and professional event experience.
  • Support communication efforts for events, including creating and implementing digital and print collateral like invitations, briefings, and promotional materials.
  • Contribute to post-event activities, including gathering feedback, evaluating success, and compiling reports.

Administrative Duties:

  • Engage in ongoing communication with donors and charity partners.
  • Manage and track invoices for departmental charges and cheque distributions.
  • Stay updated on Ottawa-Gatineau charitable organizations, with a focus on areas of interest to the Foundation.
  • Provide general administrative assistance as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in a University Degree or College Diploma program requiring completion of an internship for credit
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on multi-projects simultaneously, adhere to timelines and work under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Previous customer service experience is beneficial.
  • Must have own transportation and a wireless laptop computer.
  • Flexible work hours, including the ability to work evenings, weekends, and game nights as required.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
