The Plant Custodian is responsible for all cleaning and caretaking aspects of the offices and plant. The incumbent will also provide support with regrind and other critical functions within the production department all while maintaining health, safety, and environmental standards through cleanliness, efficiency, and attention to detail. This is a full-time position that reports to the Production Manager while working a straight day shift schedule (Monday - Friday; 7am - 4:30pm).

Salary Range: $23.31/hour

• Maintain the cleanliness of the entire plant, to include common areas such as the lunchroom and washrooms at all times.
• Coordinate cleaning schedule with the cleaning contractors on site.
• Ensure the plant is swept and mopped, garbage bins and wastebaskets are emptied, and paper products are stocked replenished.
• Ensure janitorial supply inventory is neatly stocked and replenished as required.
• Identify material needed to construct crates and skids and set up and operate tooling required for assembly
• Remove all scrap materials from the production areas, relocate and store in the designated storage areas in a logical and orderly fashion.
• Participate in and maintain the 5S program. Maintain good housekeeping around the work area.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficient in the use of hand tools, jigsaws, saws, and strapping equipment etc.
• Knowledge in the proper handling of cleaning supplies.
• Must possess basic math skills
• Knowledge and adherence of Health and Safety practices is necessary.
• Forklift Certification is an asset

Incumbent spends almost 100% of their time in a plant environment requiring varying degrees of considerable physical labor. Lifting, pulling, pushing heavy objects, standing, and walking cover majority of work. Personal safety is affected by exposure to heat, dust, noise levels and the use of equipment such as sharp blades and presses. Moderate amount of sensory attention is required. Limited control of work pace and unexpected workflow brings moderate stresses to this position.
