Job Description

Your career is an investment that grows over time!
Wealthsimple is on a mission to help everyone achieve financial freedom by reimagining what it means to manage your money. Using smart technology, we take financial services that are often confusing, opaque and expensive and make them transparent and low-cost for everyone. We’re the largest fintech company in Canada, with over 3 million users who trust us with more than $30 billion in assets.
Our teams ship often and make an impact with groundbreaking ideas. We're looking for talented people who keep it simple and value collaboration and humility as we continue to create inclusive and high-performing teams where people can be inspired to do their best work.
Wealthsimple Operations Managers own and scale processes intelligently, with analytics, grit, and grace. We manage billions of dollars, so the stakes are high. We want to deliver extraordinary experiences that meet our client's on-demand expectations, while being a compliance leader. At Wealthsimple, we are maker-owners, we believe that simple is better, and we do what's right for each client. In this role, you will:
  • Join the Operations team, and work directly with our brokerage COO. You’re a motivated Operations Manager who will help transform our brokerage operations processes. This includes, but is not limited to measuring and monitoring the overall health of the brokerage, enhancing processes and oversight, and building new processes in support of product launches.
  • Support the COO on a daily basis, assisting with critical daily operations, as well as with the development of new processes to enhance our operational efficiency. This will include development of controls, automations, as well as overall process improvements.
  • Support our brokerage COO by providing monthly oversight of critical brokerage processes (e.g. Reconciliations, Regulatory Reporting such as Monthly Financial Reports).
  • Lead/coordinate the operational aspects of brokerage audits (SOC, FinOps etc).
  • Identify and mitigate inherent operational risks as they relate to the overall team.
  • Review and improve our internal controls.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure the accuracy of journal entries, related reconciliations and reporting pertaining to client transactional data.
  • Design and implement process improvements to reduce manual burden and improve operational resilience.
  • Prioritize roadmap for automations and improvements for our existing processes and new feature rollouts.
  • General ad hoc support for financial operations.
We're looking for people who:
  • Have 5+ years experience working at a broker-dealer in Accounting/Finance and/or Operations capacities, ideally supporting the preparation of MFRs (Monthly Financial Reports).
  • Want to build new things. You have exceptional financial acumen and problem solving skills, with a passion for process improvement.
  • Are passionate about technology, specifically fintech.
  • Are organized with strong attention to detail and are comfortable working on multiple priorities with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Have excellent people skills and a positive attitude. You will be working in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Are naturally curious: if something seems off, you want to figure out what’s going on.
  • Have experience or familiarity with programming is a plus (especially SQL).
  • Have or are actively pursuing a CFA or CPA/CGA designation is a plus.
