Job Description

Electric mobility services are playing an increasing role in the transition to cleaner and more affordable modes of transportation. As zero-emission vehicles continue to gain market acceptance, FLO has positioned itself as North America’s leading electric vehicle (EV) charging network serving tens of thousands of EV drivers and station owners.

FLO is seeking a motivated Application Engineer to lead the technical solutions journey for customers for the Eastern Canada regions (Ontario, Quebec, and the Maritimes). The role will require the candidate to partner with the Sales, Marketing, Product, and other teams to deliver on an integrated consultative sales experience. The right candidate is fully bilingual (French and English), solutions-oriented, influential in communication, and resilient. This role is an excellent opportunity to build a career in an innovative technology company that is pioneering electric vehicle charging infrastructure across North America. 

LOCATION AND REMOTE WORK

This position is mostly remote. However, our ideal candidate is someone enthusiastic about occasionally visiting our Montreal office.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE

  • Partner closely with sales account managers to provide customer-facing technical leadership to help translate the full value of FLO’s technical solutions for existing and new customers. 
  • Lead technical requirement evaluation, solutions creation, and validation with a consultative approach throughout all stages of the sales process.
  • Outreach, develop, and maintain a strong consultative relationship with key technical stakeholders and specifiers such as electrical engineers, electrical contractors, and architects and support their specification process. 
  • Train key technical stakeholders through content creation, webinars, remote and in-person Lunch amp; Learns.
  • Work with the Product and Ramp;D Engineering teams to become domain expert in FLO’s products and services to support sales and business development activities.
  • Assist in bringing new solutions to market and coordinate the implementation of technology pilot projects that demonstrate the value of FLO products to key customers in various customer segments.
  • Engage with the Product and Marketing teams to develop new processes, tools, and contents such as application notes and design guidelines to help customers understand our products and services. 
  • Be the Voice of Technical Stakeholders and Customers and present industry trends, feedback, challenges, and opportunities with recommended solutions for product improvements in a systematic way to the Product team to help drive innovation. 
  • Be the single point of contact for the deployment of FLO’s technical solutions at the pre-sales stage.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of customer proposals such as Requests For Proposal and Requests For Quotation, and various other business development initiatives that require technical expertise. 
  • Conduct regular business reviews with key accounts to maximize selling opportunities and potential profit generating solutions. 
  • Maintain accurate records of target accounts, opportunities, projects, contacts, knowledge base, and correspondence in databases.

WHAT DEFINES YOU

  • Fully bilingual in French and English.
  • Experience working in a fast-changing industry and thrive in a high-growth environment with ambiguity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably electrical, software), technical field, or equivalent successful experience in a similar industry role. 
  • 5+ years work experience in engineering services and/or technical sales. 
  • Service-oriented, with experience supporting sales in SaaS and hardware products that are targeted towards municipalities/cities, utilities, fleets, or commercial, or consulting engineering experiences.
  • Experience working with electrical plans and architectural drawings and with working knowledge of electrical power distribution systems in buildings.
  • A solid understanding of energy management and network communications technologies. 
  • Experience with analyzing, visualizing, and presenting data for customer insights.
  • Willingness to travel frequently across the Eastern Canada regions and occasionally across Canada and the U.S.
  • A strategic listener and an effective communicator with interpersonal skills capable of relating well to individuals at all levels of an organization and presenting professionally to both colleagues and clients. 
  • Detail-oriented, coupled with the ability to act on your own initiative. 
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple accounts and projects in different stages.
