Payroll Administrator (Part Time, 1518-month Fixed Term Contract, Hybrid Remote)

Reports to: Financial Controller

Location: Vancouver, BC or Toronto, ON

Annual Salary: $31,000 - $ 34,000

COBS Bread is looking for an enthusiastic, organized and adaptable self-starter to fill the role of a Part-Time Payroll Administrator based on a 1518-month contract in our Support Office in Vancouver or Toronto. This role will be responsible for managing all aspects of payroll in Canada and the US, accounting for company's payroll and related items in the general ledger, assisting in month-end reporting, preparing financial reports, and supporting the preparation of statutory reporting requirements.

This is a part-time role working 3 4 days per week.

Key responsibilities include

  • Processing payroll for 100 + Bakery and Corporate Employees and maintaining ADP and PayWorks payroll databases
  • Recording regular payroll entries in the general ledger
  • Reviewing of labour costs in profit and loss report for accuracy
  • Monthly reconciliation of all payroll accounts including Workers Comp premiums and vacation liabilities
  • Preparing salary and other payroll data for use in corporate budgeting and forecasting
  • Annual reconciliation of payroll and preparation of T4 and W2 statements and other relevant items in regulation timeframes
  • Timely calculation and remittance of monthly and quarterly Workers Compensation Premiums, EHT, and other compensation requirements
  • Attending to other government inquiries or account matters
  • Monthly and quarterly remittances for EI, CPP, Taxes, Workers Compensation Levies etc.

Requirements

What You Bring to the Table

  • Payroll Certification (e.g. Canadian Payroll Association certification series)
  • Tertiary studies in general ledger accounting
  • Knowledge of Canadian and US employment regulations and requirements
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Word skills
  • Skilled in management of large payroll system
  • 2+ years payroll processing experience
  • 2+ years of general ledger accounting experience, preferably in relation to accounting for payroll activities
  • Experience in processing payroll for minimum 250 employees, in Canada and USA
  • Experience with a large company payroll system, preferably ADP or PayWorks
  • Experience in statutory reporting and remittances across multiple provinces and states
