We're looking for a mission-driven Coordinator, Peer Social amp; Recreation Groups who is passionate about creating more accessible, inclusive, and equitable communities across Canada where people with low vision have unlimited opportunities and can experience life free from barriers and discrimination.
Your Impact at CNIB
- Recruit, train, engage and actively manage and integrated team of volunteers who are accountable for delivering Peer Social and Recreation Groups.
- Coordinator program content and curriculum for Peer Social and Recreation Groups under the direction of the Manager, Programs amp; Community Engagement.
- Provides overall coordination to onboard, recruit, train, and supervise volunteers.
- Maintains and manages a database/tracking system of volunteer activity including capturing program statistics.
- Provides support to participants and volunteers on a regular basis.
- Assesses participants eligibility for Peer Social and Recreation Groups.
- Represents CNIB at public and private events.
- Participates as a fully integrated member of the Ontario East team with travel within the region.
- Make referrals to appropriate CNIB/VLRO Specialists, and community supports and resources.
Requirements
Who you are:
Education and Certifications
- Degree or diploma in related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Enrollment in, or certificate from Volunteer Management Certificate or Social Service Worker Diploma from accredited program an asset.
Experience and Qualifications
- Experience in comparable position within a non-profit, voluntary organization an asset.
- Detail-oriented with excellent multi-project and time management, and computer skills.
- Proven knowledge and skills in volunteer management and social services an asset.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated relationship management skills for individuals, groups, partners, and organizations.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills to develop and deliver presentations.
- Experience with training and development of volunteers an asset.
- Proven leadership skills an asset.
- Proven coaching skills an asset.
- Creative and innovative problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software and database management. Must be mature and responsible.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must be able to travel independently within the ONNO region as required.
- Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
- Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.
