Job Purpose:

The DevOps Engineer collaborates with software developers, system operators and other IT staff members to manage code releases. They cross and merge the barriers that exist between software development, testing and operations teams and keep existing networks in mind as they design, plan and test.


Specific Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine application maintenance. Ensure process requirements are in place for the strategic implementation of routine maintenance.
  • Building and maintaining tools, solutions and microservices associated with deployment and our operations platform, ensuring that all meet our customer service standards and reduce errors.
  • Automate our operational processes as needed, with accuracy and in compliance with our security standards.
  • Actively troubleshoot any issues that arise during testing and production, catching and solving issues before launch.
  • Deploy new modules and upgrades and complete fixes within the production environment
  • Install and configure solutions, implement reusable components, translate technical requirements, assist with all stages of test data, develop interface stubs and simulators and perform script maintenance and updates.
  • Participate in the processes of strategic project-planning meetings
  • Development approach which involves CI/CD throughout it’s development lifecycle


Knowledge, Skills amp; Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering or a relevant field.
  • Strong experience with Linux-based infrastructures, Linux/Unix administration, cloud base ie. AWS, Azure, Google
  • Strong experience with databases such as SQL, MS SQL, MySQL, NoSQL, Hadoop, Elasticsearch, Redis, Cassandra, and/or Mongo.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Java, JavaScript, Perl, Ruby, Python, PHP, Groovy, Bash.
  • Experience with project management and workflow tools such as Agile, Jira, WorkFront, Scrum/Kanban/SAFe, etc.
  • Experience with open-source technologies and cloud services.
  • Experience in working with Puppet or Chef for automation and configuration.
  • Experience working with Jenkins, Git / Github, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Nagios
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain protocol and processes with team and management.
  • Stellar troubleshooting skills with the ability to spot issues before they become problems.
  • Current with industry trends, IT ops and industry best practices, and able to identify the ones we should implement.
  • Time and project management skills, with the capability to prioritize and multitask as needed.
  • Solid team player.
