Job Description

Founded in 1939, Haney Builders Supplies is Maple Ridge's first lumber and building supply store, covering a complete city block (5 acres) in the heart of downtown. As the area's largest lumber yard, we the one-stop supplier for projects big or small.

We supply materials for small renovations to multi-family projects, and have separate divisions specializing in lumber, finishing, landscaping, paint, and other products.

We are actively seeking a motivated individual to join our Shipping and Receiving team as Forklift Operator. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and seamless processing of incoming and outgoing shipments and assist in ensuring that our customers get their orders on time, every time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organize shipment and prepare bills, invoices and other shipping documents.
  • Track processing of orders, pack goods to be shipped, and prepare identifying information and shipping instructions as well as tracking costs
  • Coordinate and efficiently utilize a fleet of company and contracted trucks
  • Oversee loading and unloading of goods from trucks, etc.
  • Maintain internal record-keeping systems using computer delivery systems.
  • May operate forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport and store goods.
  • Know safe storage and handling procedures for various materials.
  • Negotiate through shipping issues and customer complaints that arise
  • Contact carrier representative to obtain quotes, make arrangements, and to issue documentations and instructions for shipping and delivery of materials
  • Resolve discrepancies between orders and goods, such as delays, condition, weight, quality, etc.
  • Order shipping supplies as required
  • Perform general housekeeping tasks within the shipping area
  • Perform general duties, and other tasks as required

Requirements

EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to operate forklift, pallet jacks in an indoor and outdoor environment. Valid forklift license is required.
  • 3+ years experience as shipper/receiver in lumberyard setting
  • Excellent data entry and data management/reconciliation abilities.
  • Ability to communicate with customers and vendors professionally
  • Ability to work efficiently independently
