About the Job
The Compliance Officer plays a critical role in evaluating and mitigating risks to ensure organizational practices are in-line with contractual requirements, external regulations and internal policies and procedures.
As Compliance Officer, You Will
- Responsible for reviewing regulation and legislation changes affecting the company and partner with stakeholders to develop mitigation strategies (i.e. GDPR, HIPAA)
- Review contracts in order to identify, evaluate, and develop plans for mitigation on necessary compliance requirements
- Complete audits and monitor adherence, as required, on both internal and external policies and legislation
- Partner with multiple departments globally to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks as business needs change
- Provide insight and recommendations for process improvements, and improve controls that are identified during compliance reviews
- Provide guidance and assist in the implementation and maintenance of various regulatory and legislative policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with regulatory practices and consistent application of sanctions for failure to comply with policies
- Prepare reports and executive summaries by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information
- Assist external auditors with required documentation as needed
- Research regulations across various geographies, ensuring organization is apprised, up-to-date on potential risks, and compliance measures
- Ensure other departments are kept informed of changing legislative requirements and/or risk identification
- Act as a liaison to the information systems department
Requirements
As Compliance Officer, You Have
- Post-secondary degree in Business Administration or Finance
- Must have 3+ years of experience in an audit or compliance function
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with diverse groups of people
- Excellent writing skills and be able to write necessary required reports
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills
- Ability to research, sources, and summarize information for leadership review
- Superior attention to detail with an eye for accuracy
- Excellent time and project management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and time sensitive environment
- Ability to adapt to change and innovation
- Works effectively with internal and external contacts
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable
- Ability to work on multiple projects at any given point of time
