The Opportunity:

At Reach, we’re growing and are seeking a Development Manager with an agile mindset to help us continue our evolution in ecommerce development and team growth. As an experienced manager, or a top-level individual contributor looking to make a move to people leadership, you’ll work with in the Reach Development organization to grow the team and encourage an environment where people come together to creatively solve problems for our customers.

What you’ll do:

  • Team Member Career Development amp; Welfare
    • People leadership, developing the growth and talent of your direct reports within the development organization
    • Working with your team members to confirm/define/adjust yearly goals, aligning with Reach KPIs
    • Enable your team members to grow personally and professionally through coaching, mentoring, facilitation, and teaching
    • Work within a development management team to attract, onboard and retain diverse top talent - ensuring strong and scalable capabilities
  • Squad amp; Agile Coach
    • Help the squad keep focus on a customer-focused culture, providing value to end users
    • Coach alignment with Agile mindsets and behaviours, championing and influencing a culture of growth and development
    • Encourage innovation in squads by providing mentoring/guidance in development processes and practices
    • Bring technical acumen to the squad - in capability delivery and thinking critically about the application of technologies to solve customer experience problems
    • Relationship management with other squads
    • Contributing squad member
    • Continuously observe, assess, recommend, and execute improvements to the Reach Development culture

Requirements

What it takes:

  • A background that includes 7+ years of a combination of professional experience in hands-on software design and development and team management or leadership
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or similar discipline
  • Leading, coaching and mentoring software development teams and delivering working software together with them
  • Experience in fostering a strong engineering culture in an agile and devops environment
  • Effective problem solving and decision making skills
  • A track record of being detail-oriented and a demonstrated ability to follow through on projects
  • Ability to learn new technical concepts and systems quickly
  • Knowledge of Object Oriented principles and a quality mindset
  • Comfortable working and communicating with a distributed team in an agile development environment. A team oriented approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent communication skills in English

Bonus Points:

  • Scrum master experience
  • Product Owner experience
  • Ecommerce or payments software experience.
  • Exposure to working with Payment Processing platforms such as Klarna, Elavon, and Paypal. Payment frameworks such as Shopify, Magento, SFCC, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, ect.
  • Experience in one or more of Python, C++, or Java, JavaScript, and/or PHP/Laravel. Frameworks such as Angular and Vue. Hands on developing with a relational database such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Comfortable working with product management to understand and break down customer needs into user stories and solutions
  • Exposure to iterative development projects with continuous integration/delivery pipelines
