Job Description

As one of the first Robotics Engineers on Vention’s Applications team, you will be responsible for developing, building and testing robotic applications. The Robotics Engineer is called to work in various phases of a project, integrating solutions end-to-end from mechanical design, to robot arms, to end-of-arm tools, to other peripherals like vision and safety systems, to Vention’s controller ecosystem. More specifically you will:

  • Design and integrate automated and robotic solutions
  • Test and characterize automated and robotic solutions
  • Create generic and demonstration program templates for those solutions
  • Write technical guides, integration-series videos, blog posts, and other top/middle of funnel marketing material for robotics applications
  • Interact with clients and perform Application demonstrations for them
  • Train the Application Engineering Team and Integration Coach Team on robotics-related Applications
  • Internal and external training in the form of training presentations and webinars
  • Test integration of 3rd-party equipment with robots and Vention controls

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience deploying robotic solutions
  • Experience with major robot brands including Universal Robots, Doosan, Fanuc Motoman (Yaskawa), ABB, and KUKA
  • University degree in Mechatronic Engineering, Engineering Systems and Computing, Robot Technology, Electrical Engineering, Controls, or related industry experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ on-the-job experience
  • Experience with CAD software
  • Experience with programming languages (ideally Python but ok with C++, C#, VB, etc.)
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols
  • Knowledge of design and safety standards for automated equipment
  • ROS knowledge an asset but not required
