Reporting to the Corporate Controller, in this role you will build and shape external reporting that will be used by investors to ensure the message of Wealthsimple is well received and accurate.In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Be a strong voice and leader within the Finance team and across Wealthsimple by proactive by shaping the finance policies within the Company
• Oversee the end to end quarterly and annual financial statements process under IFRS, including drafting of all financial statement notes and disclosure
• Identify all inputs needed for financial statements, create a cross-functional project plan and project manage all aspects to ensure deadlines are met with high quality outputs
• Proactively work with internal stakeholders to determine the impact certain decisions will have to the financial statements and the audit
• Select and implement financial reporting software to utilize technology in the development of financial statements
• Manage the day to day external audit relationship
• Champion and evolve our accounting knowledge while creating an environment for people to do their best work
• Adept at motivating and coaching our staff to support their long-term growt

We're looking for someone who:

• Must have 10+ years accounting experience with CPA, CA designation
• Has a combination of public accounting and public company experience
• Has been responsible for the financial statement preparation process of a public company under IFRS or US GAAP
• Has experience managing and mentoring a high performing team
• Is passionate about technology, specifically fintech
• Is naturally curious: if something seems off, you want to figure out what’s going on
• Communicates effectively and is able to convey complex ideas succinctly
• Loves numbers, is organized and has strong Excel skills
• Pays close attention to details and has the ability to thoroughly review their own work
