We have a full-time opportunity for a Lead Product Designer to join our Product Group.

As a Lead Product Designer, you will help define and implement an inspiring product vision and design strategy. You will build delightful experiences for our users, contribute to improve our product, innovate and influence the team by taking a user experience approach to solving problems.

In this role, you will:

  • Be the Senior Designer for all UX and UI Design efforts across web amp; apps
  • Guide the definition, adoption, and review of UX and UI design standards
  • Promote and create a customer and data-centric design philosophy amp; process to ensure usability and usage considerations are incorporated into product decisions
  • Frame new opportunities to improve our product wherever possible through user research, heuristic analysis, competitive research, and application of established amp; emerging design patterns
  • Collaborate with Software Development Directors, Team Leads amp; wider Ramp;D department and internal stakeholders in developing and executing new features and applications, solving design and development problems in elegant, practical and user focused ways
  • Champion the evolution of the PressReader design system internally and for partners
  • Collaborate with Marketing and other departments on brand design principles, system and champion adoption in all product design
  • Become an expert in our industry, our culture and our customers and apply this knowledge to create effective, impactful and inspiring work
  • Lead the implementation of product enhancements and improvements for customer facing apps, websites and internal systems
  • Deliver world-class product design, leveraging skills and to define problems and identify design solutions at scale
  • Collaborate with designers through the entire product and development life cycle, including team meetings, stand-ups, task assignment/prioritization, and planning

You are a great fit if you have:

  • 5+ years of work experience in product design
  • A solid command of visual and communication design principles
  • The ability to communicate design concepts through sketches and wireframes
  • Experience in designing iOS and Android app from start to finish as a product designer
  • High skills in Figma, Miro, Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Keynote and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; both written and verbal
  • Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • A deep understanding of the design aesthetic, UI and UX

Bonus points if you:

  • Think in terms of patterns, components, and systems
  • Have experience in the publishing industry
  • Have a strong interest in the technology sector

This role is a full-time position based in our Richmond, BC office. Working from home is available during the Covid pandemic.
