About the position

Reporting to the Director of Resource Development and working closely with the Associate Director, Philanthropy, this position will provide leadership and oversight to the Society’s annual giving program and special events. The position will also work directly with staff and key stakeholders to secure ongoing, sustained revenue.

About you

You are an accomplished annual fundraiser, with a fundraising and marketing background. You have demonstrated experience designing and executing multi-channel annual giving strategies. You are an inspirational leader, with a proven track record of leading staff to skillfully execute fundraising events and initiatives. You are passionate about making a difference for people living with Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia, and excited about growing the Society’s revenue to meet the emerging and urgent needs. You are collaborative, creative and flexible, and lead and inspire others to make the world a better place.

Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Director, Resource Development, the Associate Director is responsible for leading a team to develop and implement a robust annual giving program, and oversight of the Society’s signature events. The Associate Director plans and manages the portfolio budget and oversees the strategic planning and implementation of all event operations and logistics including event marketing and promotion, committee liaison, and volunteer management.

  • Design, implement and evaluate the Annual Giving program, including budget and revenue targets.
  • Launch and manage multi-channel fundraising and engagement campaigns to acquire, renew and retain individual donors.
  • Conduct testing on campaigns to refine knowledge and improve results.
  • Liaise with marketing and program/mission delivery staff to ensure accurate and consistent messaging.
  • Lead development of giving cases to engage public, including creative copy strategy and execution.
  • Lead event staff to deliver Society fundraising events, including support of sponsorship and innovative delivery systems, and driving new strategic opportunities.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators for the portfolio.
  • Assist in defining, refining and maintaining key performance indicators to determine effectiveness of programs.
  • Oversee the development and management of the portfolio revenue and expense budgets.
  • Along with the Associate Director, Philanthropy, assists the Director, Resource Development in department-wide strategic planning and revenue projections.
  • Prepare financial and other performance reporting for committees, sponsors and senior management.
  • Manage a highly-skilled, motivated team of professionals.
  • Manage activities related to volunteer committees including recruitment of committee members.
  • Provide leadership in sponsorship portfolio, including identification, activation, stewardship and reporting.
  • Oversee strategy and relationship building for third-party events.
  • Ensure CRA compliance and oversees tax receipting procedures for the portfolio.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with appropriate external sources and represent the Society as required.
  • As a member of the Society’s management team, works collaboratively with other managers to provide leadership and guidance to staff.
  • Other duties as required to meet the needs of the role in relation to organizational goals.

Requirements

  • A post-secondary degree in a related discipline and 5-7 years of experience with increasing responsibility or an equivalent of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and motivation to a team.
  • Previous supervisory experience, development, and management of a team.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data in order to develop effective solicitation and engagement strategies.
  • A high level of creativity and ability to use initiative.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills and high comfort level of cross-team collaboration.
  • Demonstrated planning, project management, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with multiple, competing deadlines.
