As ATB’s next Director - Corporate Banking, ATB Capital Markets you will be responsible for structuring and underwriting new client credit and capital markets opportunities and performing financial modeling and analysis for complex lending deals involving mid to large cap companies. As well, you will embrace a dual coverage model (cross sell) to assist all groups in Capital Markets meet financial targets.

Requirements

Director - Corporate Banking Accountabilities:

  • Complete due diligence and credit analysis on new and existing client relationships. May include client visits, analysis of business models, and comprehensive review of industry trends and related regulations.
  • Work in full partnership with all divisions of Capital Markets to ensure ATB obtains a full share of wallet. Financial markets, Investment Banking and Sales and Trading for example.
  • Understand complexity of transactions and related risk (credit, market, operational, legal/compliance, etc.).
  • Considers risk, internal controls and compliance as part of day-to-day accountabilities and adheres to policies and procedures.
  • Director will conduct continuous monitoring of multiple client portfolios and their performance in a proactive and independent manner. As part of an ongoing team approach to best serve and manage client portfolios, the Director will assist in identifying and recommending related ancillary investment and corporate banking products to clients.
  • Creates pitch books for clients with respect to financial solutions and participates in Investment Banking presentations to clients and prospects.
  • Monitors client, client industry and regulatory agencies for potential changes which may affect client’s portfolio and business needs.
  • Participates in deal teams to develop, present and win mandates for new opportunities.
  • Prepares credit documentation (i.e. including applications, legal documentation, presentations, etc.) for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Reviews and continually monitors performance of existing accounts and client relationships to ensure that portfolio health is maintained. Actively manage high risk clients with the thought to minimize defaults and loan losses.
  • Understands the needs of clients and identifies solutions to make clients successful. This could include Identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and improved service to internal and external clients.
  • Supports the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Integrates information from multiple sources to enable more efficient processes, enhanced analysis and/or streamlined reporting.
  • Provides direction and feedback to Portfolio Managers and Associate Directors; accountable for development and mentoring, where applicable.

Qualifications:

  • Typically between 5 - 10 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related fields of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • An undergraduate degree with academic coursework in finance, economics, or accounting and an outstanding academic achievement.
  • MBA degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of corporate banking experience as an Analyst in a corporate lending environment, exposure to leveraged finance / lending and FIG sector experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of capital markets, investment banking products and applicable regulations.
  • Credit analysis experience/ understanding.
  • Good knowledge of the organizational lending and portfolio management policies and objectives.
  • Demonstrates solid deal/transaction execution and/or project management skills.
  • Exceptional skills in quantitative analytics, financial modeling and credit analysis skills.
  • Expertise in financial computer applications and database management tools
  • Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.
