Banking generates data. Analytics can transform banking by capturing the data, studying it and telling its story in order to provide focused assurance and valuable insight. As the leader of the data science and analytics team, this position is responsible for the program that creates value-focused strategic offerings to drive our data-driven advantage for the department.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the Internal Assurance Data Science and Analytics team in Internal Assurance. This role will be exposed to a variety of strategic projects and initiatives that have a positive impact on Internal Assurance and ATB Financial overall. The variety of work from ETL to automation, forensic and advanced analysis, continuous monitoring, visualization etc. will result in a deep understanding of the ATB environment and all its analytical facets.
As a key member of IA leadership in this role you will be responsible for:
Leading the data science amp; analytics (DSA) team delivery of the DSA program. This program is the portion of the IA operational plan responsible for providing data capabilities to IA activities such as information analysis, investigations, audits, insights and reporting where data may enable assurance activities.
You will do this through:
- Leading the team delivery of the Data Science amp; Analytics (DSA) program. The program is the portion of the IA operational plan responsible for providing data capabilities across all IA activities.
- Managing Communications amp; Relationship Management, specifically leading the Data Science amp; Analytics (DSA) team to collaborate with IA team leaders, team members and other stakeholder groups to enable ATB's goals and the DSA program success.
- Ensuring precise and conscientious communication in the delivery of key reporting components to Senior Management, ATB Executive, the Audit Committee and the Board.
- Agility and Creative Problem Solving to enable the data amp; analytics program success
- Integrating the data and analytics program with professional practices to advance the overall quality of assurance at ATB
Requirements
As the ideal candidate you possess:
- The capability to unify, motivate and manage a team comprised of direct reports, matrixed team members and individual contributors.
- Specific subject matter leadership regarding analytics, data science and artificial intelligence applied to security, risk management and investigations
- Knowledge, judgement and can leverage an expert ability to select and scale the use of industry practices and analytical tools to meet the needs of the data and analytics program
- Leadership to convey the understanding for business processes and related risks and controls, and develop innovative data amp; analytics solutions based upon audit needs.
- An ability to apply and build upon past experiences in a finance, audit, or risk management role with a minimum of five years of experience in a management
Education and Skills
This leader will need to demonstrate how their education and skills provide a deep knowledge of current data technology practices including data warehousing, cloud computing, storage, program and platform development. Additionally you will need the following:
- Acquire and maintain a professional risk certification (CFE, CPA, CIA, CISA) and project management certification (PMP, CPM or CSM) with a specific focus on agile project management
- Education and applied knowledge to demonstrate ability to utilize different types of Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau and SAS and utilizing programming languages and expertise to manage data such as C++, SQL, Python, Java and Javascript.
- Training and experience working with cloud computing, data warehousing and ‘big data’ platforms is key. Certifications such as AWS/Google Professional Data Engineer, CCA Data Analyst, SAS Certified Advanced Analytics Professional would be assets.
- Education that included training in utilization of financial, accounting and resource applications such as SAP and Oracle and supporting platforms such as BOX, DocuSign, SalesForce, etc.
- Successful candidates must demonstrate both training and experience in presentations, facilitation, team leadership, change and performance management.
