Reporting to our Chief Technology Officer, the Director of Site Merchandising and Content is responsible for product onboarding to site merchandising, driving the online performance of all Goodfood categories. You will identify strategic category opportunities and work cross-functionally with Category Management and Marketing to develop and manage content strategies from concept through to execution. Your work will focus on bringing category strategies to life in the digital space and optimizing for the online customer through ownership of the product content calendar and customer path to purchase along with site navigation, product information, search, promotions, site content. You will influence the Product Management roadmap with initiatives to drive online merchandising strategies.

Acting as an advocate for the customer by placing them at the forefront of all design and decision-making processes, you will be accountable for defining and executing the online merchandising strategy of the site, as well as driving the day-to-day tactics to achieve sales, conversion, AOV and margin targets. You will be responsible for building the on-site merchandising strategy and roadmap, go-to-market site content plans that support key category initiatives, execute promotional calendar amp; site content activity, and working cross-functionally to trouble-shoot and operate day-to-day functioning of the business.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop the strategy, process and site merchandising plans to ensure all lines of business and categories are represented on makegoodfood.ca and achieve revenue and margin targets, with consideration for customer behaviour, brand aesthetics, and inventory availability
  • Run the overall site merchandising planning process including acting as the owner of the site merchandising plan ensuring that budget is achieved on a weekly basis
  • Manage product onboarding process, establish SLAs working with category teams and marketing to collect content as required and deliver superior online shopping experience
  • Work with the product management teams to ensure that automation, ML and AI are leveraged in key merchandising areas ensuring a hyper-targeted experience for our consumers.
  • Own the content library for makegoodfood.ca including but not limited to recipes, shopping lists, kitchen tips and tricks, storytelling around ingredients, landing pages and selling content. Work with vendor partners to produce this content
  • Build out the strategy for the web hierarchy ensure that it provides the best experience for our customers
  • Leverage data sources, analytics, A/B testing and customer feedback to improve the overall experience and metrics of the business in the long term, influence our Digital Product team to drive online merchandising strategy
  • Research, document, and maintain best practices for digital and mobile merchandising experiences
  • Build world class Site Merchandising, Product Onboarding Teams

Desired skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated leadership in driving site changes to positively improve site conversion rate
  • Deep understanding of site design principles, taxonomy, browse path, integrations with ERP/Backend systems for successful product setup/onboarding
  • Working knowledge of site analytics and mechanics, SEO, and webmaster tools, on-site search to monitor product and category performance and related customer behaviour
  • 10+ years experience in ecommerce with 5+ years in leadership role in a high-volume eCommerce business
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to negotiate and influence both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills written and oral
  • Proactive problem-solving skills; ability to anticipate obstacles and quickly generate alternate solutions/ideas
  • Ability to build a strong network and relationships at executive levels with technology , business, and vendor groups
  • Resilience and resourcefulness
  • Flexible and self-motivated team player
  • Bilingualism (French - English) is an asset
