Job Description

The Relief Shipper reports directly to the Distribution Center Manager and will be responsible for preparation of shipping documentation associated with Customer Orders and Transfers through company operating systems, online courier system, manual courier waybills and occasional customs documents. Successful candidates may be trained on consolidated shipping or order dispatching and other functions as they apply.


Responsibilities will include some or all of the following:

  • Monitoring the operating system for order completion on LTL and Courier shipments
  • Processing of the paperwork for all orders that relate to Courier/LTL
  • Follow all Health and Safety and facility rules and regulations
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and safe work environment
  • Any other duties assigned

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES (application depending on assignment):

  1. Monitor operating system for order completion
    1. Use ERP system to track orders
    1. Generate BOL/Packing slips for all associated freight
    1. Keep documentation in order
    1. Follow instructions
  2. Contact carriers for pickup
    1. Schedule pick-ups for LTL and designated Courier carriers
    1. Track freight volume by carrier and advise requirements by a designated time daily.
  3. Advise the Distribution Center Manager and/or other shippers on any issues.
  4. Participate in the Annual Physical Inventory count. (if applicable)
  5. Any other duties assigned


    Requirements

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Completion of a high school diploma or practical equivalency and several years working experience in a Distribution/Warehouse office environment
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills
    • Proficient with computers, Microsoft Office, and Process Documentation

    COMPLEXITY amp; JUDGEMENT:

    Will regularly encounter problems in distribution which require judgement to identify alternative courses of action, but through prior exposure, experience and established procedures/policies can determine the most appropriate course of action and possess the ability to work through difficult problems with the Distribution Center Coordinator.


    CONTACTS:

    • Interacts on a daily basis with Distribution Center Manager, Coordinator and Shippers/Dispatchers
    • Interacts on a daily basis with Customers and drivers
    • Interacts daily with other Distribution Center staff.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Walking through the Distribution Centre shipping and office areas.
    • There is a considerable amount of sensory attention required.
    • Stress is moderate to high and is created by the need to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

    The incumbent understands, respects, and adheres to the workplace Health and Safety rules and regulations.


    Per the IPEX Supply Chain Security program, the successful candidate will be required to pass a Criminal Background Check prior to being offered the position.
