Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, and serving as a key member of the HR leadership team, the Payroll amp; HRIS Manager will be responsible for managing all payroll-related activities for Canadian and US operations. You will also oversee the ongoing development, implementation and maintenance of new HR systems and modules to support the organization’s business operations and future growth strategy. What You Will Be Doing

  • Provide day-to-day guidance, direction and mentorship to a team of payroll and HRIS professionals.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of weekly and bi-weekly payrolls in Canada and the US
  • Review and update payroll processes, practices and controls to improve efficiencies, improve data integrity and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Ensure all regulatory reporting and remittances are completed within established deadlines
  • Coordinate the design, development and distribution of payroll and HR reports for Finance, Operations and other key stakeholders
  • Support internal and external audits to ensure established controls are effective and meeting desired outcomes
  • Lead the development of a multi-year road map for the future progression of HR and payroll automation
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external vendors to identify and implement potential system enhancements
  • Coordinate the review, testing and implementation of HR and payroll system upgrades
  • Manage the change management process on required system updates and changes
  • Lead implementation efforts on new system deployments, configuration initiatives and system upgrades
  • Provide support in troubleshooting payroll and HR system issues

Requirements

What We Would Like From You

Qualifications, Experience amp; Certifications:

  • 10 or more years of payroll and HRIS experience with a minimum of 3 5 years in a management role, preferably in a multi-jurisdictional, unionized environment
  • A Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation is required. Post-secondary education in business or computer science and/or a Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) designation is preferred
  • In-depth technical knowledge and understanding of Canadian and US payrolls
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and time-management skills
  • Experience with various HRIS products and change management strategies
  • Familiarity with SOX processes and compliance
  • Knowledge and understanding of payroll accounting
  • Strong communication, collaboration and team-building skills
