The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Bilingual Investment Representative to join our Service Centre team.

Reporting to the Manager, Online Trading, the Bilingual Investment Representative is responsible for supporting our clients by managing the order flow for online trading from our self-directed clients.

What your day looks like:

  • Respond to inquiries via telephone or email on Qtrade Investor (QI) products and services in an efficient, compliant, courteous, and professional manner
  • Accept orders for transmission by quickly and accurately calculating all relevant commissions, conversions, and calculations
  • Prior to executing a client order, obtain all authorizations and maintain an up-to-date awareness of special conditions and liaise with the appropriate department as required
  • Facilitate the account documentation process through discussion with the client ensuring appropriate documents are completed
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of the workings and conventions of the relevant stock and options exchanges and master the information systems which support QI
  • Keep current with market trends and news items which may affect markets and impact client’s investment decisions
  • Maintain a full understanding of the fundamentals and techniques of a securities back-office and related departments such as trade settlement procedures, cage activities, stock reorganization issues, credit and trading coupled with the ability to assess individual situations and obtain necessary authorizations
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of all relevant issues of compliance and the relevant policies and procedures of regulatory and government agencies
  • Identify and report administrative problems and provide recommendations to improve service quality
  • Act as the primary contact with the client with respect to the resolution of problems and complaints by initiating an investigation, recording details, referring to the relevant department and conducting appropriate follow-up
  • Meet or exceed the productivity goals of the department

Requirements

Your experience and skills:

  • University degree is preferred with an emphasis in business or economics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • CSC course and CPH is required
  • Options Licensing Course amp; Derivatives Fundamentals Course is an asset and is required within 6 months of being hired
  • Three years’ related work experience in the financial services industry
  • Securities registration as an Investment Representative within the past two years is an asset
  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to quickly diffuse difficult situations
  • Proficiency in completing accurate, clear, and concise documentation
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Complete familiarity with market mechanics
  • Fluent communication skills in English and French are required
