As a Senior Manager of HR, your role will involve being a true partner to leaders in the business on all aspects of the employee journey. Reporting to our Head of People, you’ll work collaboratively with fellow team members in Talent Experience to ensure that we hire the very best people. You will partner with leaders throughout the business from new managers to founders, to ensure we are engaging, developing and retaining our people.

Requirements

  • Work with the Head of People amp; People team to support the company’s People strategy
  • Interpret Canadian compliance and legal requirements, from the OHSA to the ESA, and contribute to policy development and maintenance internally
  • Responsible for ensuring high quality and effective HR administration; including documentation (JDs, offer letters, verification, etc.), onboarding and offboarding employees from HR systems, performance management, employee engagement, managing Canadian benefits, payroll, perks and bonus calculations
  • Champion scaling our culture through building new culture programs and engagement initiatives
  • Integrate inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility in all of our programs and processes
  • Partner with managers on the employee lifecycle milestones: onboarding, performance management, employee relations, salary reviews, medical or parental leaves, promotions, and offboarding
  • Collaborate with your colleagues in the People Team (our recruitment team) to ensure that we’re targeting the right candidates, both in the external job market and internally
  • Work with your colleagues in the People team to audit and continuously improve all internal processes and programs and in particular take a lead role on performance alignment, compensation, and engagement surveys
  • Coach managers on handling performance and development conversations and act as their partner in developing their team members
  • Work closely with the leaders to ensure that their teams are engaged, developing and delivering the best results for the business

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years progressive experience, with at least 3 years as a Human Resources Generalist
  • Experience recruiting for a start-up, media, or tech company is a HUGE plus!
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong project management, facilitation and problem-solving skills, demonstrated ability to influence others, sound business acumen and ability to work in ambiguity and create/drive strategy with little direction
  • Proficient computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • A mature, positive, deliberate and focused attitude
  • Flexibility to work effectively on a variety of roles
  • Comfortable in a small team, intense and high-growth start-up environment
  • The gravitas and ability to consult, influence, and advise both talent and hiring managers at a senior level
  • Tenacity, intellectual curiosity, and the drive for continuous improvement
