Reporting to BURNCO's Manager, Payroll amp; HRIS the primary focus of our Payroll Analyst is to complete accurate, efficient and timely payroll execution for employees across Canada and the US within our corporate and operations teams. As a highly valued member of BURNCO's Human Resources team based out of our Calgary Head Office, you will be part of a dynamic team of individuals committed to ensuring the highest level of service to our internal customers.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Responsible for ensuring the accurate amp; timely processing of multi-jurisdictional payrolls
  • Able to perform adjusting calculations for new hires, leaves and terminations
  • Administer high volume manual data entry of timecards, balancing and a deep understanding labour charge outs is required
  • Responsive to requests for off-cycle payments to ensure legislative requirements and union contracts are met
  • Excels in performing full payroll cycle from gross to net calculation, through the generation of employee payments, payroll journal creation to final update
  • Performing calendar year end activities by the required deadlines which includes, but not limited to T4, T4A, T2200 preparation, reconciliation and distribution, followed by WCB year-end reporting
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Human Resources colleagues and other department representatives as required (Finance, IT, Audit and Operations management)
  • Manage working relationships while respecting sensitive and confidential information that arise during business and professional activities as defined by privacy legislation, company policy and / or professional membership
  • Generate and submit ROEs to Service Canada
  • Respond to requests for payroll information, adhering to Canadian Privacy Legislation requirements always
  • Participate in the management of the payroll central email box, responding to business and employee inquiries in a timely and efficient manner
  • Maintain a Canadian Payroll Association membership and certification by adhering to the Code of Professional Conduct and by meeting the continuing professional education requirements
  • Brings energy and perseverance to the achievement of performance goals and follow through on commitments
  • Able to champion ideas and initiatives with a constant focus on internal controls and compliance with government laws and regulations
  • Special Projects as assigned

Requirements

What We Would Like From You

Qualifications amp; Certifications:

  • Canadian Payroll Association, Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP)
  • Working towards Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) certification

Experience:

  • Minimum 5-8 years of full cycle payroll processing in a mid-size organization
  • Experienced in multi-jurisdictional payroll processing within a unionized environment
  • Skilled in payroll reporting and remittances
  • Functions in cooperation with the HR Business Partners
  • US payroll knowledge would be an asset

Skills:

  • High level working knowledge of Excel
  • Team player, ensure cross education/knowledge
  • Highly analytical and organized
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Understanding of payroll accounting
  • Able to work in a fast-paced organization
  • Strong communication, both orally and written
