Job Description

THE JOB

The Project Manager role reports to Manager, Software Engineering and facilitates the product development process by developing and managing the schedules of projects with a focus on high quality, cost effectiveness, and efficiency throughout the project’s life cycle. This involves working closely with project team members in Research and Development, Data Collection and Psychometrics, User Experience, and Software Development, as well as stakeholders outside of Product Development.

Key areas of Responsibility:

  • Develop project plan for product-specific projects using standard templates and customize as needed in collaboration with Product Development Managers, team members and other stakeholders.
  • Lead and facilitate project status meetings and the Scrum process for the assigned projects.
  • Work with project team members to ensure timely completion of tasks as per the project schedule.
  • Work closely with functional area managers to resolve schedule conflicts for team members and shared resources.
  • Ensure project status report are maintained up to date and accurate and circulated to stakeholders on agreed upon schedule.
  • Ensure project schedules are maintained up to date in the project management system.
  • Investigate and escalate project issues as required to ensure issues are effectively resolved to minimize impact to project timeline.
  • Develop risk management plan at project initiation and maintain throughout the project life cycle.
  • Prioritize and manage own workload and the workload of project team members in order to deliver quality results and meet timelines.
  • Ensure project templates are maintained up to date based on agreed upon development procedures, durations and effort.
  • Facilitate Project Management Status Meetings with Manager
  • Usher product components through final signoff with Management and the Executive team.
  • Manage communication to key stakeholders and ensure changes/impacts to the project status, timeline, cost and risk is communicated in a timely manner.
  • Ensure delays, issues, risks and changes to projects are recorded in the project management system for future reporting.
  • Conduct project post mortems and create a project closure report identifying project successes and areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate final printing of components
  • Manage paper and electronic archiving of essential product-related information.
  • Complete own timecards and monitor timecards for team members to monitor progress.

    • Requirements

    WHAT YOU BRING

    • At least 3 years project planning and project management experience.
    • Proficiency with MS Office software applications (Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint).
    • Education/training in project management principles.
    • PMP certification desired.
    • Experience and training in agile development principles (Scrum) is a definite asset.
