Description:
The production supervisor is responsible for general supervision of the yard personnel and day to day operations including maintenance on equipment, monthly inspections, and safety. This role requires being 50% outside, 50% inside.
COVID-19 - As an essential business Richmond Steel has continued to operate throughout the pandemic. We have strict COVID 19 protocols for all required onsite personnel. As this position participates in onsite activities daily, remote work is not available.

Requirements
- Up to three years of experience supervising employees in recycling or manufacturing operations desired
- Hands on experience with the operation and maintenance of material handling equipment (E.G. conveyors, shakers, gearboxes, water pumps)
- Employee must demonstrate good people skills in supervising the work of union and non-union employees.
- Must be able to communicate with and motivate the work force to assure the completion of mechanical and maintenance repairs as expeditiously and cost effectively as possible, to avoid work stoppages while maintaining safety
- Must be able to take over (on an emergency basis the operation of equipment (Ex: pay loaders, cranes and mill operator) due to the lack of union manpower
- Must be computer literate and have strong working knowledge of MS Office applications
- Associate degree in the related discipline preferred but not required
- Knowledgeable of tools and equipment i.e. overhead cranes, welding equipment and shredders
- Strong knowledge and background in safety
