The Business Operations (BizOps) team's mandate is to tackle Wealthsimple's most important and ambiguous challenges through rigorous problem solving and execution. Most often, we work where there is insufficient process, technology and people. Our job is to simplify complexity, define structure, and help implement the most efficient use of scarce company resources (people, capital, time and focus). As a Business Operations Manager, you will be responsible for partnering with teams on multi-month projects to deliver meaningful and measurable value across the organization.Within 1 month, you’ll:
  • Complete our company-wide onboarding program
  • Meet other new Wealthsimplers and engage with company leadership, to learn about the foundations of Wealthsimple, our past, present, and future
  • Meet the BizOps team and be paired with a BizOps mentor to help you ramp up on all things Wealthsimple
  • Kickoff your first BizOps project
Within 3 months, you’ll:
  • Work with senior leaders to define and break-down problems in a structured way
  • Understand Wealthsimple’s data schema and leverage data to help inform teams and solve problems
  • Proactively identify and address roadblocks to drive results on aggressive timelines
  • Provide feedback, opinions and suggestions up, down and across Wealthsimple teams
Within 6 months, you’ll:
  • Ship your first BizOps project - delivering a comprehensive solution to a critical business problem
  • Partner with teams to define, prioritize and solve problems that deliver meaningful and measurable value to our business
  • Set and deliver on aggressive deadlines and drive yourself and the team around you to action, approaching the work with a no-ego attitude and rolling up your sleeves to tackle whatever needs to be done
  • Develop a big picture understanding of BizOps and how the team can drive value across the broader organization
  • Understand Wealthsimple’s data schema and leverage data to help inform teams and solve problems
  • Proactively identify and address roadblocks to drive results on aggressive timelines
  • Provide feedback, opinions and suggestions up, down and across Wealthsimple teams
Within 12 months, you’ll:
  • Lead teams in the problem-definition and insight generation process, culminating in the recommendation and implementation of actionable solutions
  • Act as a catalyst by bringing the right teams/people together within and/or across teams, creating a structure where teams can move efficiently through unprecedented or cross-functional projects
  • Coach, support and mentor individuals you work with, leaving them stronger after having worked together
  • Establish yourself as a thought-leader with key stakeholders across the organization
Skills we’re looking for:
  • Relevant work experience: 5+ years of demonstrated success in investment banking, management consulting, startups or related fields
  • Data amp; analytics: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with superior attention to detail. Experience with SQL is an asset
  • Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work in collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders and teams
  • Action orientation: A clear bias for action and ability to act without being told what to do, takes full ownership over work and seeks help and input when needed
  • Communication: Able to speak plainly and truthfully, communicating complex ideas in a simple amp; easy-to-understand way for any audience (e.g. engineering, 3rd party vendors, growth/operational teams, executive team)
  • Leadership: Experience leading and driving change with and without authority
  • Organization amp; planning: Independently plans, organizes, and budgets proactively, focusing on key priorities and adapting when required
  • Honesty/integrity: Doesn't cut corners. Does what is right, not what is politically expedient
