We are looking for a SME, Demolition to join the mobile yard team. Our vision is to empower employees through continuous development of their technical and emotional skills. Overview:

This position is a permanent, full-time, year round non-exempt position that operates on a 3 week rotation on an averaging agreement. The candidate is provided with a living out allowance, paid accommodations and travel to and from site while on rotation.

Job summary:

The SME will be appointed Project Supervisor by the Project Manager OYT based on the nature of the work/project to be executed, the expertise of the SME and the availability of resources.

The SME Demolition will have experience in the scrap industry and will be an experienced machine operator. In addition to the below listed responsibilities, this SME will be able to provide expertise in demolition.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate workforce on shift
  • Schedule project personnel according to project plan and after approval of the Project Manager OYT
  • Assign work to workforce based on abilities and training.
  • Actively participates in the hiring/terminating/disciplining/promoting of non-SME personnel
  • Work as a team with other members of the project and perform tasks assigned by the Supervisor of the project.
  • Report production KPIs and production performance
  • Maintain and check equipment as per the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Participate in safety programs and toolbox talks.
  • Review scope of work with Client, Project Manager OYT and Commercial Manager OYT
  • Responsible for the creation of the demolition/work plan and submission to Project Manager OYT
  • Responsible for the Equipment Mobilization plan
  • Responsible for setting up camp and the job site
  • Responsible for the purchase of operations supplies and PPE. Ensure that all equipment/yard performances/quotes are, in a timely matter signed off and passed on for purchase orders to be created, ensuring our suppliers are paid
  • Implement agreed upon project plan within time and budget. Report and recommend plan of action to overcome any scope, time or budget changes
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods and equipment performance
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of workers
  • Report daily activities and production tonnage to the Project Manager OYT
  • Ensure that all materials are inspected and processed to optimize grade and maximize sales opportunities.
  • Requirements

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    • Successful candidates must undergo drug amp; alcohol test.
    • Must be able to pass a background check
    • Up to 10 years of experience supervising employees in the similar scrap handling work or demolition operations desired
    • Hands on experience with the operation and maintenance of material handling equipment
    • Employee must demonstrate good people skills in supervising the work of union and non-union employees
    • Must be able to communicate with and motivate the work force to assure the completion of mechanical and maintenance repairs as expeditiously and cost effectively as possible, to avoid work stoppages while maintaining safety
    • Must be able to take over (on an emergency basis) responsibility of other RSR Yard Supervisors due to the lack manpower
    • Must be computer literate and have strong working knowledge of MS Office applications
    • Associate degree in the related discipline preferred but not required
    • Knowledgeable of tools and equipment i.e. overhead cranes, welding/ torching equipment and shears
    • Strong knowledge and background in safety
