For more than 50 years, CNIB Lake Joe has been providing an exciting, safe, and accessible camp experience for people living with sight loss. CNIB Lake Joe is looking for a Head of Leadership amp; Adventure Programs to help us bring the magic of summer camp to life for people living with sight loss!

What you'll do

  • The Head of Leadership and Adventure Programs will lead and support the planning and facilitation of adventure programming (i.e., climbing wall, archery, etc.) as well as supporting all other programs. This position will also be responsible for the further development, execution and evaluation of Lake Joe’s leadership programs (i.e., CIT, CLDP, WILD). The Head of Leadership and Adventure Programs will support staff and volunteers to ensure that guests have an exceptional experience while at Lake Joe.
  • Provide leadership to program facilitators, including supervision, coaching and support in adventure programs
  • Provide clear communication to all guests, including climbing safety, program announcements and any changes to the programs
  • Communicate clear expectations to staff and volunteers about their role in the safety of adventure programs before, during and after the program

Requirements

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including patience, empathy and communication
  • Experience in camp or other recreation programs, including operating a climbing wall
  • Experience supervising and coaching others
  • Must have good organizational, planning and leadership skills
  • Current (within 6 months of start date) Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C
  • Level 2 Challenge Course, Climbing Wall Practitioner, or willingness to obtain
  • Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCO) an asset
  • Ability to work flexible hours in a changing and busy environment
  • Must reside at CNIB Lake Joe during operational season and be willing to share accommodations with other staff member
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset
