Burnbrae Farms (Burnbrae) is a family enterprise that was established in 1891 and has operations in Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia. The company has two head offices; one in Mississauga and the other just outside of Brockville in Lyn, Ontario.
Burnbrae Farms is vertically integrated and owns five farms, seven egg grading plants, three egg processing facilities, and has a share in four joint venture farms in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec. Burnbrae manages the operations at its own farms and the joint venture farms in Alberta and Manitoba. As the largest egg supplier in Canada, Burnbrae works with approximately 400 egg farmers across the country and supplies eggs to 40% of Canada. The Vice President, Poultry Operations amp; Industry Relations (VP) will report to the Executive Vice President and work closely with the President to assist with strategic planning for the department, ensuring farming capital is deployed to best serve changing market demand. The VP will be directly responsible for operational, financial, animal welfare, and environmental performance of this multi-site farm operation. Succession planning, employee development, team objectives, departmental administration and ensuring KPI’s are being met will also be priorities for the Vice President. Lastly, it will be critical to ensure that Burnbrae’s farming practices are best-in-class and evolving with industry trends.
This individual will also play a lead role in further developing the national Poultry Industry Relations Department. Over the past few years, Burnbrae has expanded its senior leadership team and introduced more structure and accountability throughout the company; the VP will continue in this vein within poultry operations. The VP will work closely with the VP of Human Resources to foster a culture of accountability, identify training needs to evolve the team’s capacity, and establish succession planning within poultry operations.
Requirements
The ideal candidate for this role holds a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture, business or other relevant discipline, coupled with an understanding of poultry operations and experience in a Canadian supply managed industry. You are a strong operational leader who is focused on process improvement and efficiency using technology. A natural and authentic networker, you have experience maintaining strong relationships with producers, regulatory bodies, industry associations/committees and other stakeholders.
